Self-priming pumps are a versatile solution to negative suction head applications. These pumps are typically horizontal, one-stage, centrifugal design with an open impeller handling large solids.
A foot valve is not necessary as the pumps prime and re-prime themselves automatically to depths over 7,5 meters (25 feet). Often fitted with easily replaceable wear plates, the pumps have a high resistance to abrasion. The casings usually include large covers that can be used for inspecting the impeller or for removing blockages.
These pumps are normally equipped with externally lubricated mechanical seals with hard faces to prevent seal damage during dry running. Pumps are available in cast iron, stainless steel fitted, all stainless steel or bronze as applications require.

These pumps are especially useful when applications require:
- Quick self-priming
- Handling large diameter solids
- High abrasive resistance
- Dry running
- Long life

Self-priming pumps are used in:
- Industry
- Waste treatment
- Environmental protection
- Shipbuilding
- Construction industry
- Civil engineering
- Agriculture
