3 Types Of Oberdorfer Pumps

Oberdorfer 60P Centrifugal Pump

Oberdorfer Pumps have been manufacturing dependable, high-quality pumps since way back in 1890. To this day, they’re still one of the leaders in the industry, especially when it comes to design and innovation. Whether it’s their chemsteel pumps, their trusty bronze gear pumps, or their centrifugal and impeller pumps, you know you are getting a reliable, quality product. There are various types of Oberdorfer pumps to suit a wide range of requirements. These are 3 of the most popular types of Oberdorfer pumps:

Gear Pumps

The first type of Oberdorfer pump is the gear pump, which transfers fluids with the help of two rotating cogs. The cogs work together to create a seal, which draws fluid into the pump while suction is formed on the inlet side. As the cogs continue to rotate, the liquid is moved to the outlet port. Oberdorfer gear pumps are available in a variety of materials, including bronze, plastic, iron, stainless steel and Hastelloy. This makes them perfect for a wide range of uses, particularly for chemicals. Oberdorfer Gear pumps are renowned for their advanced technical capabilities, and they also offer a selection of sealing options and drives, which adds to their versatility.

Impeller Pumps

Impeller pumps are typically used for engine cooling, air conditioning, and in black and grey water transfer. They’re also commonly found on boats, both in flange mounted or pedestal styles. Impeller pumps work by having a rotor with flexible vanes sit on a circular housing, with compressed vanes on one side. As the impeller rotates, a vacuum is created, which draws fluid into the chamber. The flow of the liquid is then pushed toward the discharge side by the rotating impeller, where the vanes are then compressed to allow constant discharge through the pump’s outlet port. Oberdorfer offer impeller pumps in various corrosion-resistant materials for different applications.

Centrifugal Pumps

The most common type of pump used in piping systems is the centrifugal pump. These are rotational pumps, which, like impeller pumps, utilise a rotating impeller to control a fluid flow rate. As the liquid enters the impeller by the rotating axis, the impeller accelerates its flow and directs it to either a volute chamber or a diffuser, where it can exit into the piping system. Oberdorfer pumps manufacture bronze self-priming centrifugal pumps with top-quality ball bearings filled with grease for a maintenance-free operation.
