To begin with Steve, can you tell us about Applied Pumps and what you do?
Sure. Applied Pumps is a leading UK independent pump distributor based in north Derbyshire. We’ve been around since 2000 and we service British, European and international markets. We are therefore, your ‘go to people’ for any type of pumping supply.How do you help your customers?
We are the problem solvers! We bring our customers the right pumping equipment quickly and at the right price but most importantly, we also bring them a high level of technical knowledge and expertise. On a practical level we supply key pump products such as gear pumps, screw pumps, self-priming pumps, centrifugal pumps, drum and barrel pumps, magnetic (coupled) drive pumps and air operated diaphragm pumps – as well as filtration and seals. We also help with parts and servicing but as I said a moment ago, central to our business is the free product advice and technical back-up we provide. This means we always have someone at the end of a phone ready to answer any queries and we’re also happy to undertake site visits to identify a problem and make a recommendation for the best solution.How do you know what people will need?
Our starting point is always asking the customer, what is the industry or operational application they’re involved in and what is the challenge they face? And because we supply pumps that move just about any liquid from A to B, the answer to this can be very varied. We may for example, supply a Victor Process gear pump to pump resins or replace insulation materials with isocyanetes for the building/construction industry, we may provide a self-priming pump to pump large liquid volumes within a effluent treatment process or we may supply a Bronze gear pump to supply marine engines with oil for lubrication and fuel.What other problems do you solve?
Our customers also need to know that their equipment will continue to pump efficiently at the required capacity, that they have contingencies in place for any unexpected outage and also, when to review, refurbish or update.So it’s all about the needs of the customer?
Absolutely; having been around now for almost 20 years, Applied Pumps is proud to be a trusted name and we are also very proud that people keep us as their supplier when they move from company to company.
